Kim Gordey is the owner of Emerging Leader Consulting, a company that specializes in developing critical skills for new leaders in the workplace. Her practice is all about giving new leaders the clarity they need to take charge and achieve results.
Kim became interested in leadership when a “leave ‘em out to dry” style ended her first career in just 13 months at nineteen years of age. No, she wasn’t fired, but, like many people working under an unskilled leader, she left, with all of her potential, for greener pastures.
After a frustrating search for dynamic role models and her own bumpy journey into leadership, Kim struck gold with the opportunity to work with a number of amazing leaders. Since then, she has become an enthusiast about ending poor (or non-existent) leadership transitions – there really is a better way than just sink or swim. Now, Kim leads workshops and coaching programs that help companies get the most out of their new leaders, while helping those newbies eliminate the barriers to their own exceptional journey to leadership – simply accelerating their performance.
So what has she done?
Kim’s has over 10 years experience in senior leadership positions and led national advertising and marketing campaigns for a leading research intensive university in western Canada. She has been speaking to adults and youth about leadership, change management, careers and resilience for over 15 years.
She holds a Bachelor of Management degree, a diploma in Business Administration and has completed the internationally recognized Coaches Training Institute’s Co-Active Coaching program. She is a member of the International Coaches Federation and the Calgary Association of Professional Coaches. She is an experienced facilitator and has taught the Ken Blanchard Situational Leadership program, courses in marketing and public speaking as well as a number of team building and communication workshops. She is a recent graduate of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers Fast Track Program and holds the Certified Toastmaster designation.
